Holiday Shopping

The majority of the time, shopping IS a pleasure at Publix. I have only had one complaint about a horrible cashier in the past at Publix, that was last Christmas Eve. Well... it's holiday time again! I checked out last night at the Publix in Helena, AL. I went through Wendy's line, she was so frustrated with my coupon usage that she leaned over after she finished checking me out and glared at me and whispered that I was ripping the store off with my coupon usage. She was horrible throughout all of the coupon scanning and had snide comments about each coupon. This does not happen to me often, I am VERY serious about my coupon usage, I make sure every coupon I use is 100% legal and correct! For her to be so ugly to me and try to make me feel like I was doing something wrong flew all over me! I went straight to customer service and had a nice talk with a girl and a guy up there. They were very apologetic. I felt much better after I left, but tell me, why? Why the rudeness, the coupon dollars ARE NOT coming out of her pocket and she is not getting less money for me saving so much! By the way, I saved $109 and only spent $39. Yea me!

It is Christmas Season in Montevallo, AL!

The Christmas Season has officially arrived in Montevallo, AL. Santa Claus arrived on his sleigh tonight and we all got to see! My kids have grown up with the enormousness of Mobile Mardi Gras and had not had the privilege of seeing a small town parade until tonight. It was wonderful, I don't know what I was expecting, but not what I saw! It was so much more personable than Mardi Gras, no fighting, swearing, funny costumes that you hope your children don't see, etc. Don't get me wrong, I will continue to be a Mobile Mardi Gras lover until the day that I die because I grow up so close to the action. (My Daddy was King one year and King Tut another year of The Pharoahs) BUT, I have learned there is nothing like a small town event! This small town that I wanted to have nothing to do with may be starting to grow on me... I am not 'officially' part of this small town, but bumped into at least seven different people that I knew! It is a small world, welcome to the small town!

If you are planning to buy anything at Target this week, I strongly suggest you make a trip down the paper plate aisle prior to checking out! Chinet Lunch Paper Plates 72 count are on sale $4.74 this week. If you buy two, you get a $5.00 gift card. In front of the paper plates in my Target store was a coupon for Buy One Get One FREE on these paper plates. I did two separate transactions. Transaction #1 - Two packs of Chinet Lunch Paper Plates $4.74 + Tax = $4.98. I was then handed a gift card of $5.00. Transaction #2 - Everything else I was purchasing - I used my $5.00 gift card from the previous transaction. So, Target paid me $0.02 for purchasing 144 paper plates!!!

2. Remove crayon from walls – If your budding Rembrandt got creative all over your living room wall, don’t buy expensive chemicals. Erase the crayon with a baby wipe.

3. Remove stray hairs from pets – If your shaggy pet is shedding all over your carpet, give him a daily rubdown with a baby wipe. This will remove all the excess hair and keep it off the furniture and rugs.

I ended up with 5 bags of Nestle Morsels (for Christmas Baking); 10 packages of Cookie Dough; 4 Creamers; 2 Chicken Voila!; 1 box of Tylenol; 1 bag of Cat Food and 1 package of treats. Including tax I spent $17.86 but will get $5.00 back from the Real Simple Magazine Rebate. So $12.86 for $81.89 worth of groceries is not bad! That is $69.03 in savings!!! If you go today or tomorrow, do not forget the penny item which I hear is Publix Oatmeal!

Job Loss
