BOY HAS A LOT CHANGED SINCE MARCH 2, 2010!!! I stopped using Blogger and went to a regular .com. I used that for awhile until I got a wonderful job in Jacksonville, FL. Well, that wonderful job didn't turn out so wonderful and by the time that ended I was pregnant with my third daughter and my husband had lost his job. So now there are five of us living at home with Mom along with my two sisters, their families, my grandmother and all of our animals. Well, ALMOST all of our animals... My families dogs are being babysat by my brother and his family... So, now I am kicking myself for letting the .com expire because now evidently it is cool to coupon! Who knew it wasn't cool before??? Oh well, you live and learn.

One of my best friends in the entire world passed away, Wednesday, February 24, 2010. I will miss him dearly. Maybe I am being a little selfish here, but I keep thinking about this. Who am I going to call when I am in the car line waiting for Isabella, or when I am driving down the road lonely and wanting to talk to someone. I am definitely a phone talker in the car. Wayne is always the first person I think about when I pick up the phone in the car to call someone. I guess this is because we talked every morning on my way to work for so many years. It has become such a habit for him to be the first one to call when I have good news, bad news or to just talk about my day. He called me a lot too, up until these past couple of weeks. I knew something was wrong when I couldn't get him to answer the phone or to return my calls, but at least I could talk to his voicemail until Wednesday. Wayne, I love you and miss you so much already! I hope you are in a much better place and are looking down on all of us right now saying everything is OK for you and will be OK for us soon enough. I can't have too many guardian angels, no one can. I would love if you were one of mine.

Food World has not had the best sales since they sold out, but I like shopping there because they have a lot of reduced items. For example, yesterday I went.

I bought:

A pack of Dole Shredded Lettuce (I LOVE shredded lettuce) for $0.99

A pack of those yummy soft sugar cookies with the icing and sprinkles for $2.00 (These were not out of date, they were in Mardi Gras colors, so they were reduced.)

Two Pork Tenderloins for around $4.00 each

A bag of bananas for $0.94

A tray of red potatoes for $1.04

A large package of Luncheon Meat for $1.00

All of the above was reduced. I promise you, in this house, it will all get used before it goes bad! Publix doesn't reduce food. I know they give their bakery items to the church, but what about the other items? I questioned them one time about their meat. I asked when their mark down days were. They said they never marked their meat down. OK, so what do they do with it then? Throw it away? That is absurd! I have ALWAYS purchased meat on mark down and have never had any problems. If it doesn't look good, I don't buy it. What I do buy, I either use within one day or freeze it the day I buy it.

Yep, that's all I need, something to take up more of my time and money! Isabella and I had so much fun making hairbows today! Have you bought a pretty bow at the store lately? You can easily drop $6 to $10 on ONE! Yep, just one! I bought about 20 different ribbons, three packs of blank barrettes, a hot glue gun, glue sticks and a plastic box to hold everything in. I spent $25 max! This will make A LOT of bows! I am so excited!!! Computer Virus

We got a computer virus late Monday night. UGH! I can't live without my computer! LOL

Good News though, my husband researched the virus from his computer at work and found exactly what virus was affecting us. It also gave about 20 pages of instructions on how to repair it. He spent HOURS on the computer last night, but it looks like his determination worked! I am back up again!!!

It was a strange virus that I have not even heard of happening. An anti virus company hijacks your computer in a way and will not let you do ANYTHING on your computer until you buy their program which was $50 for only three months! I do not know how the virus gets onto the computer but it gets on there and hangs out until you restart your computer, then it goes crazy. We accidentally restared the computer Monday night when Don tripped over the cord. He ended up getting it off the computer without us having to give this horrible company any money. Yay, Don!!!

Why is it that you give your teenager a check to take to school for something and she looses it for like a month and then without even telling you finally turns it in? OK, I have been out of it since before Christmas. Just a lot going on, not getting everything that I need to get done done, problems with my new website, a cold, helping to take care of an older lady, etc. OK, enough excuses! I am back! I have spent my computer time entering contests rather than blogging. I am hooked to contests! I guess it is because I seem to keep winning! Nothing major yet, but just yesterday I won two tickets to see the Princess and the Frog movie! I am now coming back to blogging! My sister kicked my butt yesterday because I have not updated my blog in FOREVER! It is about time I get back to it! I enjoy it so much. Believe it or not, since I stopped blogging, I stopped bargain shopping! That is SO not me! Really though, I haven't done hardly ANY shopping since right after Christmas! I am NOT going to give up on my contests though either! I can fit it all in! OH and by the way, the HGTV Dream House IS MINE! That is what my big win is going to be!!! Reindeer Chow Recipe

This is MY FAVORITE Christmas Baking Recipe. This will be my fourth year making it.

Reindeer Chow

5 cups Honeycombs Cereal

2 cups Thin Pretzel Sticks (broken in half)

1/2 cup Butter

1/2 cup Creamy Peanut Butter

1 (11.5-ounce) package (1 1/2 cups) Real Milk Chocolate Chips

1 cup Powdered Sugar

1 cup red and green M & M s

Combine cereal and pretzels in a 4-quart bowl; set aside.

Place butter, peanut butter and chocolate chips in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 45 seconds; stir. Continue microwaving until butter and chocolate are melted (15 to 45 seconds). Stir until smooth.

Immediately pour chocolate mixture over cereal in bowl; stir until well coated. Spread mixture evenly into a single layer on two waxed paper-lined cookie sheets.

Refrigerate 20 minutes to set.

Break into bite-size pieces; place half of mixture into two 1-gallon size resealable plastic food bags.

Pour 1/2 cup powdered sugar into each bag; close bags. Shake bags until mixture is well coated. Place 1/2 cup candies in each bag.

Store in sealed bags or airtight container in refrigerator up to 4 weeks.

Makes 9 to 12 cups.

Isabella FINALLY got her Elf this year. She has been wanting one to come visit her for many years, we figured out this year what we were doing wrong. We read somewhere that you have to write Santa a letter prior to Thanksgiving asking for one to come visit. I didn't know that you had to request one! So, the day after Thanksgiving, she woke up to find a VERY pretty Elf in her bed laying beside her. She decided she would name her Hopeful Hannah after her best friend, Hope and Hannah Montana of course! Saturday, Hopeful Hannah was sweet enough to leave Isabella the DVD Merry Madagascar, I am not calling it a movie, just a DVD. Did you know that it is only 22 minutes long? I didn't! Sunday, Hopeful Hannah should have brought coal, but instead just did not bring anything or even do anything fun. Monday, Hopeful Hannah brought Isabella the movie Christmas Do Over. It is a cute movie that is an ABC Family Original. Let me tell you what Hopeful Hannah decided to do this morning! She rolled Isabella's bed and our Christmas tree in toilet paper! We KNOW it was Hopeful Hannah because Isabella found her on the Christmas tree with the empty toilet paper roll around her! Hopeful Hannah is SO funny! I can't wait to see what else she decides to do or bring!

I still use a great box. I have just advanced into a much larger box. I now use the handled Rubbermaid 6 qt Handi-Box. It still fits perfect in the top of a shopping buggy and is especially great, because I can now use regular size letter envelopes with the tops cut off and they fit either way in this box. You can have two rows side by side or one long row. Some times of year, I seem to have a ton of coupons, other times, not so many, so I swap up how I have them laid out in this box a couple of times a year. My categories are much more advanced and detailed now. I still keep a pair of scissors, a pen and a small calculator in my box.

The reason, I split my categories up so much, is I want to be able to go straight to the coupon I am looking for. If my envelope gets too big for a particular category, I will put the envelope in a sandwich size ziplock bag. My Restaurant coupons were in a large ziplock bag, I now have those in a make-up bag. I also have another small make-up bag that I keep other coupons in, such as tanning, home repairs, mall coupons, etc. Plus, I have a purse size coupon pouch that I keep in my purse to put coupons in that I know I am going to use. These are coupons that go with my shopping list or high value coupons that I don't want to forget to use.

Organizing Your Coupons for Beginners

You have to start with a good box. My first coupon box was the small handled Rubbermaid 4 qt Handi-Box. This worked great for me until I outgrew it. It fits in the top of the buggy very well and has a handle which makes it very easy to carry around. The sides lock on very well, so I never feared dropping it. I had a lot of large greeting card envelopes which I sealed and then cut in half as my coupon holders. I used the open side to put my coupons in. I used a bold marker to write on the outside of the envelope what my categories were. The categories I started out with are below in the order that my favorite store at the time was laid out in. Of course, over the years, my favorite store has changed, I have kept this order because I have had it this way for so long, I now know exactly where to go for each envelope. Also, I always have a pair of scissors, a pen and a small calculator in my box.

Holiday Shopping

The majority of the time, shopping IS a pleasure at Publix. I have only had one complaint about a horrible cashier in the past at Publix, that was last Christmas Eve. Well... it's holiday time again! I checked out last night at the Publix in Helena, AL. I went through Wendy's line, she was so frustrated with my coupon usage that she leaned over after she finished checking me out and glared at me and whispered that I was ripping the store off with my coupon usage. She was horrible throughout all of the coupon scanning and had snide comments about each coupon. This does not happen to me often, I am VERY serious about my coupon usage, I make sure every coupon I use is 100% legal and correct! For her to be so ugly to me and try to make me feel like I was doing something wrong flew all over me! I went straight to customer service and had a nice talk with a girl and a guy up there. They were very apologetic. I felt much better after I left, but tell me, why? Why the rudeness, the coupon dollars ARE NOT coming out of her pocket and she is not getting less money for me saving so much! By the way, I saved $109 and only spent $39. Yea me!

On the DS and Wii games, I am going to take the ad to Target and see if they will price match it so I can use my coupon that is save $10.00 on two DS or Wii games. It is Christmas Season in Montevallo, AL!

The Christmas Season has officially arrived in Montevallo, AL. Santa Claus arrived on his sleigh tonight and we all got to see! My kids have grown up with the enormousness of Mobile Mardi Gras and had not had the privilege of seeing a small town parade until tonight. It was wonderful, I don't know what I was expecting, but not what I saw! It was so much more personable than Mardi Gras, no fighting, swearing, funny costumes that you hope your children don't see, etc. Don't get me wrong, I will continue to be a Mobile Mardi Gras lover until the day that I die because I grow up so close to the action. (My Daddy was King one year and King Tut another year of The Pharoahs) BUT, I have learned there is nothing like a small town event! This small town that I wanted to have nothing to do with may be starting to grow on me... I am not 'officially' part of this small town, but bumped into at least seven different people that I knew! It is a small world, welcome to the small town!
